Google just rolled out a new feature for Business Profiles called “What’s Happening”—and it feels a lot like a social feed. You can see the post on LinkedIn. This new section showcases your latest posts from your Google Business Profile (GBP) and connected social media accounts, special offers, and upcoming events—putting them front and center for anyone checking out your business.

Think of it as a mini newsfeed for your business. It’s prime digital real estate—completely free—but only if you keep it updated.

Currently, this feature is only available on mobile and is limited to restaurants, but it is expected to expand to other industries as well as desktop soon. Here is what it looks like:

How to Make the Most of “What’s Happening” on GBP:

  1. Link Your Social Accounts
Make sure your business’s social profiles are connected to your Google Business Profile. Google pulls in your latest social posts automatically, giving you more visibility without extra work.
  2. Post Events & Offers
Regular updates are great, but don’t forget about event and offer posts. These are exactly the kind of content Google wants to feature in the “What’s Happening” feed.
  3. Stay Consistent
Keep your GBP and social channels updated regularly. Google rewards consistency, and customers are more likely to engage when they see a business that’s active and current.

Google is clearly investing in making Business Profiles more dynamic and engaging. That means more opportunities for you to turn searchers into paying customers—if you stay visible and active. If you currently have our Local SEO package, we are already doing this for you with weekly GBP posts and connections inside the dashboard to your Social Media accounts. Now is the time to consider the benefits of both optimizations for your GBP and Social Media. Let us know if you would like more information on either package.
